RESEARCH - What we are doing...

An evaluation of The adventure development programme that Waipuna Trust runs for under 20 year olds has just been completed, and now we are exploring the possibility of extending it and evaluating the next course.

The adventure development apporach has also been used by young people with cancer and funding is being sought to evaluate this programme.

The Collaborative is supporting two Students in Pubic Health one who is investigating the relationship between Alcohol use and the prevalence of STIs, and another who is undertaking an evaluation of a sexuality education programme run by YrChoice (formerlyPSI) in schools nationally.

We are providing assistance to and exploring funding for the following research:

"Smoking in the Park" - the Christchurch City Council and the Cancer Society joint project on promoting a policy of banning smoking in parks and outdoor recreation areas.

Youth and Unemployment in 2010

Youth transitions to adult mental health care

Youth transitions out of CYF care

Assistance with "Pathways to Resilience" - undertaken by Massey University
