Topic:    A Profile of Young People Attending Youth AOD Services in Aotearoa and Factors Associated with AOD Treatment Retention

While retaining youth in treatment is viewed as an important step in improving treatment outcomes, the factors associated with treatment retention among youth are not well understood. This presentation provides an overview of the findings of a study which investigated factors associated with treatment retention among a group (n=79) of young people who attended one of eight youth AOD treatment services in New Zealand during 2003 and 2004.  In addition a profile of the young people who utilise AOD treatment services in Aotearoa New Zealand will be presented.
